Posture is one word that has unfairly taken an unworthy beating.
Unfortunately, our culture has stigmatized this very important word. When many people hear this word, they are often “turned off”‘. They assume a stiff, fixated and rigid stance. Is this, in fact, what is meant, by ”Good Posture’, to be stiff and unbending? Perhaps that is our cultural image but that is far from “effective”, “agile” and “resilient posture” which is truly the” Ideal Posture”.
For a moment, let’s take a look at the military. Are you aware that officers and “enlisted men” have a profoundly different training regimen? It is absolutely true. The officers are trained to make their backs strong, solid and erect. They know just as the ancient Egyptians knew about, “Commanding Posture”. They know that by creating the “postural” (geometric) image of authority the troops will respond in kind and look at them with a level of respect. You and I both know intuitively that this is no accident. This has been strategically and methodically induced purposefully.
Beyond the military “connection”, “direction” and “ intent”, there is a more simple and fundamental reason for all of us to maintain a relatively erect postural orientation. First let’s consider the effects of aging. Is it not wholly obvious that as so many people age their skeletal position (posture) deteriorates? Is it not tragically sad to see their suffering, to see the burden which our friends and loved ones must endure? What if we could easily stave off that process? What if we could stop it and more dramatically reverse it? Then, what if I told you that we can and will definitively stop this debilitating, “degeneration”.
To make that all more palpable let’s look at the fundamentals. A triangle is a shape and it too is an equation. A square and a rectangle too are just shapes but they too are equations. The same is true for circles and arcs, they too are shapes and equations. To simply, the skeleton is also nothing more than a “shape” and that too is an equation. But in this equation is our biomechanical “lives” or biomechanical potential. However, what is so encouraging about this is, that as we change our “geometric” shape we will in fact change our biomechanical function.
This all may be somewhat challenging to conceive on first glance but understand this is just about making your biomechanical life easier and more efficient by directing gravity along specific pathways to alter your skeletal orientation.
Please check back again to see fun, entertaining videos which will easily demonstrate the fun math-a-magical connection to our skeletal “well being” and provide techniques which will help you with your journey.
Best always, Trainer Ken
